Key Responsibilities- Work with the team to identify, develop scope, design, and improve the process automation systems.
- Understand business, production unit, and user requirements and priorities.
- Participate in the whole life-cycle construction chain from scope/concept definition to commissioning of machine.
- Perform risk assessments and design robot safety systems.
- Provide control systems input into project development and design schedules.
- Program and troubleshoot control software, hardware, and special equipment (robots, vision, etc.).
- Work from schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
- Incorporate specifications and requirements into electrical system design and create requisitions for equipment accordingly.
- Create instructions for fieldwork team.
- Validation and commissioning of machine.
- Work in collaboration with Project Leader and cross-functional teams to meet timeline.
- Maintain budget and schedule tracking on assigned design activities.
- Maintain project design files, including supplemental vendor documentation and calculation sheets.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and automation-related problems at customer sites as post-sale activities. Deliver pertaining documentation.
- Proven machine and process design experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Design, program, and debugging of PLC, HMI, and robot-special equipment software.
- Excellent design aptitude and intuition.
- Knowledge of statistics - validating a machine fulfills its function (CMKs, CGR) repeatability studies, validating calibrations of equipment, instrumentation.
- Subject matter expert with automation equipment - PLCs, Servos, AC/DC motors, machine vision, Screw-driving, Robots, and Controllers.
- Experience with industrial protocols.
- Champions the implementation/installation of new tools and equipment, willingness to learn new technologies as needed.
- Maintain department's state-of-the-art knowledge and capability in commercially available machine/motion control systems, system integration, part sensing, and robotics technologies.
- Ability to understand/support complex operation with sophisticated machinery and technically challenging process.
