Job Description

Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our suppliers' products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor supplier quality performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement plans with suppliers.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors to resolve non-conformance issues.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coach and mentor quality engineers and technicians to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Develop and implement effective containment plans to prevent production line stoppages.
  • Request and review 4D/8D responses from suppliers in a timely manner.
  • Request and review RMAs from suppliers for material rejections.
  • Request and review SCBs for all SMRRs issued to suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain a risk assessment process with suppliers to design PPAP levels and assign official PPAP numbers.
  • Ensure complete and on-time tasks assigned in the YORK ECN system for initial and approval stages of the PPAP process.
  • Monitor quarantine inventory to meet aging and total cost reduction goals established on a yearly performance basis.
  • Recover credits for SCBs of SMRRs issued to suppliers, sorting, reworks, and containments with JCI resources for no conformance following global procedures.
  • Maintain the Maple system updated for credits received from suppliers and provide accounts for use by the AP team.
  • Maintain an updated monthly supplier quality performance presentation with top offenders and corrective action plans.
  • Develop inspection plans and guidance for incoming inspection processes applicable for critical parts identified with poor quality from suppliers.
  • Support attending ISO 9000/2015 audits for incoming inspection processes and provide guidance for internal or external audits.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechanicals, Industrial, Electromechanical, or similar.
  • Excellent mathematical ability and statistical methods and data analysis knowledge.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Minitab and project management knowledge.
  • At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing processes. Experience may have been gained in JCI Reynosa or another company. In the absence of education requirements, a minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing areas is required.
  • Direct communication with production supervisors of non-conformances raw material, process, and/or final audit.
  • Ensure process documentation is reviewed during the analysis and solution of reported failures in the process, by the customer or as a result of an audit.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to coach and mentor quality engineers and technicians.
  • Bilingual is a must.
