Job Summary:
The Restraints Design and Release Engineer is a critical role within the Ford Motor Company, responsible for the design and release of restraints components and systems for new and current vehicles. This position requires a strong background in engineering, project management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Release: Design, develop, validate, and release automotive systems, subsystems, and components for assigned programs, ensuring compliance with corporate and local requirements.
- Project Management: Manage project timing, releasing drawings and engineering specifications, and tracking supplier deliverables to ensure timely part delivery for each program milestone.
- Quality and Compliance: Create specific FMA documents, DVP&R, and quality documents, and monitor the development of interior trim for Ford vehicles according to company-specific benchmarks.
- Collaboration and Communication: Translate customer, regulatory, and product requirements into engineering targets, monitor suppliers, and analyze customer feedback through Ford's systems.
- Supplier Management: Support suppliers and assembly departments with current production quality and manufacturing issues, and lead discussions with involved parties, including suppliers.
- PPAP Support: Support production part approval processes (PPAP) for mass production.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience working as a design and release engineer.
- Good program management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others as part of a team.
- Significant problem-solving skills previously demonstrated.
- Travel is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering.
