About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer to join our team at Eaton Corporation. As a Product Development Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful development and production of our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, design, and manufacturing, to develop and implement product strategies that meet customer needs and product specifications.
- Provide proactive and reactive support for product lines to ensure continuous manufacturing without interruption.
- Support the development and production launches of new products, line transfers, and changes to existing products, with a strong focus on cost reduction efforts.
- Contribute to achieving the High Five metrics of the focus factory.
- Participate in Tier meetings related to the focus factory and work with the team to implement permanent and temporary changes.
- Provide product line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware.
- Support cost reduction activities from an engineering and material perspective.
- Manage the balanced scorecard for metrics related to the implementation of changes.
- Support all NPI gates and sub-processes reviews, providing required information and participating in projects pulsing for NPD programs.
- Update and manage procedures related to permanent changes and temporary changes (MCOs and Deviations).
- Lead Engineering Changes Requests and implementation of ECO/MCOs.
- Provide support to outside design resources when appropriate (e.g., PCB layout, software development, test laboratories).
- Provide support to outside suppliers (part substitutions, test methodology, create and maintain documentation for manufacturing).
- Recommend component selection and validation according to internal procedures.
- Participate in all ECO meetings with design center and internal meetings for MCO/Deviation implementation.
EHS Responsibilities
- Separate hazardous waste from common waste.
- Place hazardous waste (gloves, rags, etc.) in assigned containers.
- Keep the work area contaminant-free.
- Do not waste water.
- Report any activity that may jeopardize safety and the environment.
- Identify and properly dispose of all chemicals that may contaminate the environment.
- Ensure the correct container for the disposal of hazardous waste (identified containers and containers to prevent spills).
- Report the entry of new chemicals required for maintenance purposes to maintain an updated record and ensure compliance with correct handling.
- Contain oil spills and repair as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronics, or Mechanical (or similar).
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar position, Electronic manufacturing environment a plus.
- Experience/knowledge with manufacturing processes, PFEMA, process flow, APQP, etc.
Skills
- Strong knowledge in IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/21, and basic knowledge of IATF-16949.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish, leadership skills, proactive, strong organization, and analytical thinker.
