We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Music Teacher to join our team at Madison International School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching music skills to elementary pupils, planning and executing a balanced music program, and providing individual and small group instruction.
Key Responsibilities- Teach music understanding and appreciation, harmony, explorations in music, and choral music to elementary pupils.
- Plan and execute a balanced music program, organizing class time to ensure preparation, rehearsal, and instruction are accomplished within the allotted time.
- Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Encourage students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible.
- Utilize a repertoire of music literature, including traditional and contemporary pieces, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils.
- Maintain care and responsibility for school-owned music, instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.
- Evaluate each pupil's musical growth, performance, and understanding.
- Assess each individual's contribution to the performance of the group.
- Select music, books, and instructional aids to enhance learning and requisition musical instruments and instructional supplies as necessary.
- Cooperate with the Building Principal and staff to provide musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings, and seasonal programs.
- Communicate with parents and school staff on individual student's progress.
The successful candidate will be able to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations. They will also be able to stand and circulate for extended periods of time, see for purposes of reading music, correspondence, documents, and printed matter, and observe students. Additionally, they will be able to hear and understand speech at normal levels and communicate clearly with others.
Requirements- Bachelor's or Master's degree related to Music.
- Knowledge of music theory.
- General good knowledge of music history.
- Interest in popular music and ability to play at least one instrument.
- Responsibility, loyalty, honesty, energy, enthusiasm for children, knowledge, communication skills, creativity, international-mindedness, social competence, collaborative work orientation, ability to self-assess, leadership, persistence, and proactivity.
The post holder is required to maintain confidentiality of any information in any form of communication pertaining to the school, staff, students, and parents that the post holder may be privy to. They must also carry out their duties and behave in a manner that is befitting to a private international school and maintains the good image and reputation of Madison International School.
