About the Role:
The Sports Assignment Editor is a key member of our team, responsible for planning and executing our sport coverage across various leagues and teams. This role requires close collaboration with the Director of Operations, Senior Manager of Assignments & Operations, and other assignment editors to deliver high-quality content and grow our coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute event coverage, from planning to execution, including credential requests, event creation, photographer relations, and league/team relations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with photographers, old and new, to ensure high-quality content.
- Grow our coverage where possible, identifying new opportunities and partnerships.
- Compile and analyze data on coverage and usage to inform future content decisions.
- Represent the company in the local market, utilizing strong communication skills to build relationships with external contacts.
- Develop partnerships with industry-related organizations and athletes to enhance our content offerings.
- Foster a strong team environment, both internally and externally, through mentorship and collaboration.
Requirements:
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to speak Portuguese a plus.
- Background in the sports industry, with established relationships with sports leagues, public relations teams, and organizations.
- Minimum three years' experience in the industry, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality content.
- Ability to work weekends when needed and travel domestically and internationally, with a valid passport.
- Strong people skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Equivalent undergraduate degree or relevant experience.
