Role Overview
As a Software Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing a talented engineering team within the Product Engineering - Accounting & Tax Practice. Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical guidance and support across various projects while developing innovative strategies to address complex challenges throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement both tactical and strategic technical plans that align with organizational objectives, ensuring the team is prepared for scalable growth.
  • Champion the integration of advanced engineering methodologies and practices to enhance innovation and efficiency within product development teams.
  • Mentor and cultivate team members, focusing on developing future leaders and facilitating organizational scaling.
  • Drive the technical roadmap, prioritizing initiatives that increase product value and customer satisfaction while managing technical debt effectively.
  • Act as a Scrum expert, guiding teams through the Scrum framework to achieve high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide accurate estimations for project timelines and resource allocation.
  • Recruit and manage a skilled team of software developers.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities efficiently within the engineering team.
  • Articulate a compelling vision for products and customers.
  • Engage and align diverse cross-functional stakeholders with the strategy, vision, and roadmap.
  • Exhibit strong people leadership skills, particularly for tactical or junior-level teams.
  • Ensure the team meets expectations by communicating clear objectives that support impactful work aligned with team goals.
  • Set objectives around talent development and diversity, demonstrating measurable progress.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams effectively.
  • Maintain a balanced focus on both strategic and tactical elements.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and participate in decision-making processes, considering multiple factors.
  • Utilize knowledge of software architecture to manage development tasks related to software applications, operating systems, and databases based on design specifications.
  • Oversee enhancements within existing software architectures and suggest improvements as necessary.
  • Understand the project's value proposition for customers.
  • Apply critical, unbiased, and data-driven thinking to make informed decisions that align with future goals.
  • Prioritize initiatives to achieve team and business objectives, recognizing that not all tasks are equally urgent or important.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for the Software Development Manager position will possess:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, including at least 5 years in a leadership role managing complex projects and teams.
  • Proven ability to lead process improvements and team development initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in .NET or Java technology stacks, Azure, and/or AWS, with a willingness to adopt new technologies.
  • Extensive experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Familiarity with frontend technologies such as JavaScript, React, or Angular.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and innovation.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and organizational development.
