About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Corning. As a key member of our Optical Communications segment, you will be responsible for designing, creating, and modifying technical documentation of telecommunications network elements using CAD systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for telecommunications networks
- Collaborate with product engineers and technical leaders to identify customer requirements and develop solutions
- Implement process optimization and cost reduction into the design phase
- Work closely with project groups to create new telecommunications solutions
- Collaborate with other organizations to establish timelines and solve design problems
- Stay up-to-date on industry and engineering standards
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electromechanical Engineering
- Good knowledge of CAD systems (2D and 3D)
- Technical drawing reading and creation skills
- Basic materials knowledge
- Experience in design processes (school or work)
- Ability to communicate with internal and external clients on technical issues
- Experience in engineering/technical work (welcome)
- GD&T knowledge and tolerance analysis (welcome)
- Additional skills: teamwork, interpersonal skills, time management, self-reliance, computer literacy
- Communicative English (including technical)
