About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Big Data Engineer to join our Analytics Tooling team. As a key member of this team, you will engage with internal customers to build tools and establish processes that define how we do analytics at Zillow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the architecture, implementation, and operations of tools and processes for gaining insights from Terabytes of data.
  • Collaborate with analysts, product managers, data scientists to understand their analytical needs and drive technical solutions.
  • Apply devops approach to continuously drive value for our end users while balancing support burden.
  • Research and pioneer the adoption and use of new technologies within Zillow.
  • Drive process improvements that affect hundreds of internal Zillow users.
Requirements:
  • A degree (BS+) in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience with building and maintaining full-stack applications.
  • Strong background in Java or Python.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
  • History of leading projects independently at scale (company/org-wide).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and passionate about collaborating across organizational boundaries.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
  • Must be authorized to work in Mexico.
Nice to Have:
  • Passionate about data, analytics, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with LLM and prompt engineering.
  • Experience working with cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Flink, Kafka, Airflow, Databricks).
  • Experience with product analytics tools such as Amplitude, MixPanel, or BI Tools such as Tableau, Mode, Thoughtspot, Metabase, etc.
  • Experience building data pipelines and transformations.
  • Collaboration across the company - needs to be able to partner with many different teams.
