- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Biology, or equivalent experience in crafting and developing interactive scientific or e-commerce web solutions.
- Clear understanding of client-server functionality, web browser technology, and object-oriented design (OOD) and Java fundamental concepts and language.
- Experience with Java technologies, including Core Java, Java EE, Spring, JDBC, Hibernate, Web services (SOAP/WSDL), JAXB, EHCache, Maven, and Tomcat server.
- Working experience with the latest client-side web technologies, including JavaScript, Ajax, CSS, JSON, jQuery, HTML5, and frameworks such as jQuery, Bootstrap, and Angular/React.
- Strong experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle, MySQL, and Postgres, as well as working with data formats like XML.
- Experience working in AWS DevOps (or other cloud environments like Azure or GCP) and proficiency in using the command line to perform common tasks.
- Good understanding of systems and network administration in Linux and Windows, and ability to use the command line to perform common tasks.
- Experience with tools such as Eclipse IDE, Git/Perforce, Confluence/Jira, Subversion, Oracle Developer, Selenium QC, and other relevant tools.
- Experience with search concepts, search engines such as FAST, and SEO is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, web application debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Experience with other server-side technologies, including PHP, Perl, Ruby, and Python.
- Experience with Linux programming or administration.
- Experience with Agile Software Development process.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual with good follow-through skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team as well as independently to accomplish tasks without supervision.
