About the Role
Medallia is a pioneer in Experience Management, and we're looking for a Senior Security Operations Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Security Operations team, you'll play a critical role in building enterprise-grade security to detect indicators of compromise and security malfeasance. You'll work closely with our global engineering teams to ensure we have best-in-class detection and response capabilities deployed throughout our platform.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement security use cases in our SIEM and SOAR systems.
- Utilize pattern matching techniques, machine learning algorithms, and statistical models to detect and respond to insider threats, APTs, and anomalous behavior.
- Build detection mechanisms to identify indicators of compromise and security malfeasance.
- Lead investigations into real or potential indicators of compromise and respond to security incidents.
- Automate security response and reduce human intervention in common security events and patterns.
- Utilize open-source tools like Terraform, Packer, Linux, Kubernetes, GIT, Python, and Go to build our security platforms and tools using an infrastructure-as-code model.
- Participate in our on-call security operations team that protects our customers, employees, and infrastructure from common and novel threat actors.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in Security Operations, including threat hunting, intrusion detection, signals intelligence, incident response, forensics, security architecture, and infrastructure.
- Experience administering SIEM systems like Splunk, ElasticSearch, or Qradar, and analyzing large data sets to separate true signals from noise.
- Knowledge of HIDS, Networking devices, Anti-Malware, Anti-Spam, and DLP solutions, and recent experience with Linux/Windows/Mac system administration and hardening.
- Programming experience in languages like Python, Bash, Go, Java, or C.
- Experience with Vulnerability Management tools like Tenable, InsightVM, or Qualys, and responding to detected vulnerabilities.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities, a curious mindset, and a passion for the human and technical aspects of information security.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Cloud providers like AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI, especially with Cloud Security Posture Management.
- Experience with open-source tools like Terraform, Packer, GIT, and Jenkins.
- Experience with Kubernetes environments.
- Experience with Security Orchestration and Automation Response tools (SOAR).
- Experience with WAF/RASP solutions.
- Experience with DLP and web filtering solutions.
