Job Summary

Celestica is seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Customer Focused Team as a Senior Operations Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing the execution of business operations for a customer or group of customers, ensuring value creation and customer loyalty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a significant Customer Focused team within a site, with overall business responsibility for the execution of the business of a customer or group of customers.
  • Direct reports will include program management and some if not all of Supply Chain Management (planning and purchasing), Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing Operations.
  • Ensure the Customer Focused team generates value for the customer from their business with Celestica, and seeks to develop customer loyalty.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of action plans comprehensively to resolve customer issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Customer Focused activities using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Plan, manage, and control Customer Focused performance by establishing overall direction and priorities.
  • Lead identification of new services to customers.
  • Establish policies and guidelines and evaluate results.
  • Allocate appropriate resources, tools, equipment, and support to meet customer requirements within the Customer Focused team.
  • Monitor performance of business execution using Metrics and other appropriate metrics.
  • Report on performance to the customer, site management, and (where required) Global Customer Unit Leadership.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of action plans to correct out-of-target conditions.
  • Accountable for financial performance of the business, ensuring that all financial metrics (Pricing, Service Billing, Return on Investment, Accounts Receivable, etc.) are managed within contract and quotation requirements.
  • Recommend and manage the Customer Focused budget and financial forecast, working with Sales and Business Development on establishing customer prices for new business opportunities or periodic pricing reviews.
  • Select employees, assign objectives, review performance, and approve employee compensation.
  • Coach for improved performance, approve disciplinary actions, and reassign personnel as necessary to optimize Customer Focused performance.
  • Accountable for employee satisfaction improvement within the Customer Focused team.
  • Participate in and often lead cross-functional process improvement groups.
  • Support Corporate or Site-wide initiatives.
  • Independently represent the company to customers at working or senior levels.
Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of production processes and the tools and equipment used.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the business unit and how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, inventory, on-time delivery, and the financial performance of the unit.
  • Ability to coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet production quality operational, supply chain, and financial targets using Celestica's Project Management methodology.
  • Comprehensively developed skills in the following Celestica defined competencies: Personal Attributes, Interpersonal, Business Technical, and Leadership Competencies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability independently and effectively to lead, manage, mentor, train, and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve challenging targets within tight time deadlines and in a highly dynamic manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
  • Duties may require periodic sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Occasional overnight travel is required.
  • Above demands are carried out within the local existing Health and Safety guidelines.
Typical Experience
  • Ten plus years of relevant experience.
Typical Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
