We are currently seeking a skilled Electrical Component Engineer to contribute to our innovative projects in data storage and server design.

Role Summary:

The Component Engineer will engage in a Value Engineering capacity, focusing on component selection, evaluations, and detailed product content that ensures the successful launch and sustained production of Sanmina products. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of electronic components and their essential attributes, along with practical experience in testing and measurement. Familiarity with global supply chain component management tools and processes related to preferred supplier lists is crucial for achieving cost-effective bill-of-materials (BOM) aligned with project timelines and deliverables.

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and self-organization capabilities, facilitating collaboration with Design teams, Operations NPI, Costing Teams, and Corporate supply chain departments. Building robust relationships with key suppliers for cost control and supply continuity will be essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Critical functions include:

  • Conducting BOM analysis, segregation, and scrubs for EOL and Value Engineering
  • Implementing BOM cost reduction strategies at both system and component levels
  • Performing component selection, alternate sourcing, and Form Fit Function (FFF) analysis, including testing and measurement
  • Generating and reviewing Engineering Change Orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Managing component obsolescence (Supplier; EOL, PCN)
  • Collaborating with Design Engineers, NPI & Operations Teams, Global Supply Teams, and Suppliers
  • Understanding layered BOM structures and possessing PLM system skills
  • Participating in VES and Customer processes for environmental compliance (RoHS, REACH, Full Material Disclosures, etc.)
  • Preparing and submitting part/assembly classification documents for customs clearance
  • Supporting product quality initiatives as necessary (RC, CAPA, etc.)
