Johnson Controls is seeking a highly skilled Logistics Planning Specialist - Supply Chain Optimization for our San Antonio, TX facility.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the plant's production plans are effectively setup to drive success. As a Logistics Planning Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and managing the production schedule, communicating it to the organization, and making timely adjustments as needed.
About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned professional with experience in materials management, production planning, or material scheduling in a manufacturing company. You will work closely with sales and the plant to ensure that production plans align with customer demands and factory capabilities.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Create assembly line specific build schedules over the near-term horizon (0-12 weeks)
- Align with Sales & Demand planning on sales & deliverable build requirements
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers to understand shop constraints and incorporate them into the scheduling algorithm
- Support Supply Chain Planning to include supply constraints and incorporate these into the scheduling algorithm
- Use Theory of Constraints & Optimization techniques to achieve key objectives: build mix is achieved each week, plan is structured for efficient shop operations, and critical supply chain constraints are accounted for
- Lead cross-functional change management when issues occur within the frozen window
- Build models and run analysis to identify the most effective solution given issues such as urgent sales changes, production issues, or supply chain disruptions
- Coordinate NPI introduction into the production system
- Attend program launch meetings to understand new variant impacts and ensure launch timing addresses other factory priorities
- Participate in daily plant operational reviews to maintain material flow health
- Own reporting on plant status & performance for production management and key stakeholders
- Pull data from ERP & production management systems to understand status
- Use data visualization tools like Tableau and PowerBI to generate reports
- Support operational report out to the weekly Sales & Operational Execution meeting
- Define business requirements and generate use cases to drive software development
What We Look For
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, or certification in Operations or Vendor Management
- 2-5 years related experience in materials management, production planning, or material scheduling in a manufacturing company
- Strong analytical capabilities, including data analysis to optimize plans relative to constraint factors
- Travel: 5%-10%
Preferred:
- Proficiency in SAP and Logility strongly desired
- Proficiency in analytical and reporting tools (MS Excel, Tableau) strongly desired
- Demonstrated high-level performance in current and previous positions
- Shown initiative, desire to drive change, and motivated to exceed expectations
- Possesses statistical knowledge and ability to apply statistics to product and process improvement projects
- Solid grasp of manufacturing principles, including Process, Information, and Material flow
- Strong interest in process and quality improvement and ability to provide leadership
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and ability to exercise influence without authority
- Strong sense of ownership and positive attitude
Salary Range:$80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
