About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Crime Prevention Specialist to join our team in Mexico City. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) in Mexico City.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with INL's Program Officers to assess, plan, monitor, and evaluate police professionalization and capacity-building projects for prosecutors, analysts, investigators, and/or police.
  • Provide expert advice on effective public safety strategies and collaborate with law enforcement agencies to create and implement them.
  • Assist INL staff in developing, implementing, evaluating, and enhancing police professionalization and capacity-building projects.
  • Coordinate the implementation of police professionalization and capacity-building projects for police.
  • Recommend training and support to state and local police personnel to enhance their skills in areas such as basic investigations, tactical training, officer safety, community policing, human rights, police conduct and ethics, effective communication strategies, and other areas as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, law enforcement, public policy, criminal justice, social sciences, or related field, or associate degree with five years of related experience in Mexican law enforcement.
  • Mexican citizenship or third-country national status.
  • Spanish FSI level 4/4 and English FSI level 3/3.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in program management, with a strong understanding of policing in Mexico and law enforcement practices, including citizen security and policing principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior U.S. and GOM officials.
  • Ability to pass a U.S. Embassy RSO security background check.
