Job Title: Sr Acquisition Investment & Financial Advisory

Job Summary:

ENGIE is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Advisor to join our team in Mexico. As a key member of our Acquisition Investment & Financial Advisory team, you will be responsible for analyzing investment proposals, structuring and negotiating M&A and project finance transactions, and managing junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage junior financial advisors and provide coaching on project financing, M&A, and investment valuation and structuring.
  • Monitor and assess liquidity, providing constructive advice on regional and international project finance debt markets and Debt Capital Markets.
  • Assist team leadership in managing relationships with leading commercial banks, regional and local commercial banks, export credit and multilateral agencies, and other funding institutions.
  • Monitor and assess competitors' approaches to financing and mobilizing new financing sources.
  • Be responsible for risk assessment, valuation, financing plan structuring, negotiation, and closing activities for greenfield, brownfield, and M&A transactions in coordination with the Business Development team.
  • Advise on risk allocation, bankability issues, optimization, and tax structuring.
  • Review and approve financing, accounting, and tax-related inputs in financial models (where required with the support of relevant expertise centers and/or external consultants).
  • Contribute to setting internal procedures for the AIFA Latam team and ensure adherence to Global AIFA procedures.

Requirements:

  • Finance or Economics-based degree or a professional qualification such as CFA, CIMA, ACA, ACCA (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in Project Financing and Financial Advisory.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, negotiating, and closing large-scale international/regional project finance transactions in the energy sector.
  • Experience in the Latam region.
  • Experience in planning and managing complex financial closing processes.
  • Experience in managing people.
  • Specific Knowledge/Skills:
    • Strong and proven analytical skills, including proficient financial modeling.
    • Strong leadership qualities, people management skills, and ability to motivate team members.
    • Commercial acumen with good understanding of accounting topics and tax structures.
    • Sound understanding of the power and gas sectors in the Latam region.
    • Proven understanding of contractual structure and risk allocation of typical contracted-output and merchant IPP projects.
    • Planning ability and capacity to deliver on plans.
    • Presence and interpersonal credibility to represent the company with key financial stakeholders, banks, financial institutions, government agencies/departments, and partners.
    • Behavioral capabilities: problem-solving, strong personality, and leadership.
    • Languages: Spanish and English required. French valuable.
