Job Title: Berry Crop Research Scientist

Driscoll's is seeking a highly skilled Berry Crop Research Scientist to lead our research efforts in sustainable crop management. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing business-driven field research trials on fruit production, flavor components, and growing practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and execute experimental trials in various locations of the enterprise.
  • Develop mentoring and training programs to deploy innovation and implementation of key findings across the organization.
  • Lead collaboration on plant physiology research across R&D departments and business units.
  • Develop talent through formal and informal relationships and organizational structures.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Driscoll's breeding programs, production systems, and production environments.
  • Develop strategies to provide foundational knowledge to regional nurseries.
  • Ensure the security of Driscoll's confidential and proprietary information and materials.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree in Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Ecology, Agriculture Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of work experience, preferably with both academia and industry-relevant background.
  • Experience in berry crop production and propagation desired.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English).
  • Robust understanding of plant physiology, irrigation, and nutrition management, and water quality impacts on plant production.
  • Understanding of the role of GxExM component as the foundation for plant performance.
  • Proficiency in developing both foundational and applied research trials.
  • Courageous, creative, and conceptual thinker with practical planning skills.
  • Ability to work with key internal stakeholders, at a high collaborative level, and manage multiple projects across the enterprise.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally without restrictions.
