Job Summary

CEMEX is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating, reviewing, and ensuring compliance with CEMEX electrical engineering guidelines, design criteria, specifications, and standards during the development and execution of electrical engineering projects worldwide.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Project Coordination: Coordinate, supervise, and manage the development and delivery of electrical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with CEMEX standards and guidelines.
  2. Technical Expertise: Participate in projects and studies, executing proposals for equipment calculations, main and distribution substations, and single-line diagrams.
  3. Design and Development: Review and create calculations for electrical and automation equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with CEMEX design criteria and standards.
  4. Project Execution: Support the project construction team during project execution, startup, and commissioning stages, providing immediate and effective solutions to ensure cost, quality, and execution time.
  5. Technology Evaluation: Participate in the evaluation of global Electrical & Automation installation technologies and equipment suppliers to keep up-to-date with CEMEX standards, ensuring the most competitive cost and quality.
  6. Compliance Verification: Verify the compliance of local, international, and CEMEX codes, standards, and design criteria and specifications with designers and engineering firms, through monitoring and assistance.
  7. Research and Development: Participate with local and international engineering research institutions to keep updated with new technologies and installation procedures and/or materials to apply this knowledge to CEMEX worldwide projects.
  8. Equipment Procurement: Elaborate and review preliminary and final lists of electrical and instrumentation equipment and materials, for the buildup of investment budgets in the draft stages as well as the project.
  9. Bidding Process: Review and create BOM and BOQ for the bidding process and hiring for construction.
  10. Information Gathering: Request and field survey any necessary information of the group plants or its subsidiaries, to give continuity to the projects.
  11. Training and Development: Assist training and development courses, to keep the performance of his function updated.

Position Challenges

  1. Decision Making: Manage electrical engineering guidelines, design criteria, specifications, and standards for installation of the project of his responsibility, in coordination with the team.
  2. Document Review: Comment, approve, or reject Electrical engineering drawings and documents that do not comply with local mandatory codes and/or CEMEX design criteria and standards.
  3. Tendering Process: Create, review, follow up, and tender bidding process for electrical engineering, equipment, and materials, as well as compare and approve technical comparative analysis.
  4. Project Coordination: Coordinate with multidisciplinary, multifunctional, and multicultural engineers and engineering companies during the development of the project.
  5. Compliance Assurance: Assure compliance of all projects with CEMEX electrical engineering design criteria, specifications, and standards.
  6. Project Participation: Participate during all stages of the project from engineering, purchases up to start-up.
  7. Design Criteria Sharing: Sharing the conceptual design criteria of the project as well as the equipment involved to all needed.

Qualifications

Spanish Native desirable, English 90%

Bachelor (degree): Preferably Electrical Power System master's degree and/or sufficient proven experience

Area of Study: Electrical and Automation engineering, Administration, Sciences, Electrical equipment selections and electrical engineering revision. Cement and Concrete Production knowledge preferably.

Knowledge of PC Programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, AutoCad general knowledge, Power System Analysis software like Easy Power preferably.

Experience

1 year (Preferably) Cement and/or mining related projects/equipment experience.

3 years Electrical Engineer related projects (Engineering firms, equipment selection-specifications, power system analysis).

General knowledge of cement, ready-mix and aggregate industry related equipment and installations.

General knowledge of engineering and projects process development.

Good knowledge on power system analysis, (power flow, SC, coordination, arc flash).

Good knowledge on medium and low voltage installations and the related standards, on wiring practices and code requirements.

Good knowledge on electrical equipment selection, like, high and medium voltage switchgears, relays, breakers, current and voltage instrumentation, power transformers, LV distribution panels and breakers, MCCs, lightning panel and transformers, etc.

Willing to travel and relocation.
