About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Tech Lead Virtual Desktop Environment Specialist, where you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining a scalable and efficient Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the deployment of VDI infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Collaborate closely with technical teams to design and deploy a robust VDI architecture, adhering to industry best practices.
  • Configure virtualization platforms, provision virtual desktops, and manage resource allocation, network connectivity, and storage capacity.
  • Monitor and optimize the VDI environment for peak performance and responsiveness, troubleshooting performance issues to maintain a smooth user experience.
  • Implement robust security measures to protect VDI infrastructure and sensitive data, enforcing access controls, applying security patches and updates, and adhering to compliance standards and regulations.
  • Plan for capacity growth to meet evolving business needs, identifying potential bottlenecks and scaling the VDI environment to ensure optimal performance and user satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of the VDI infrastructure, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, utilization, and security metrics to track the effectiveness of the VDI environment.
  • Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of the VDI infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers within the team, fostering their technical growth and knowledge.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • At least 9+ years of experience with virtual desktop technologies such as Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Citrix.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop architecture, configuration, deployment, and management.
  • Proficiency in other relevant Azure services, including Azure Active Directory, Azure Networking, and Azure Monitor.
  • Understanding of Azure Virtual Desktop concepts such as host pools, session hosts, and management tools.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Nerdio over AVD.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP, along with network optimization.
  • Deep understanding of modern endpoint security practices, VDI infrastructure, and data protection methodologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation and customization of solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and effectively working with cross-functional teams.
