Capital One Android Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Android software engineer to join our team in Mexico City. As a key member of our digital transformation initiative, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying high-quality Android applications that meet the needs of our customers.

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000-$150,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description

As an Android software engineer at Capital One, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and deploy high-quality Android applications that meet the needs of our customers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance, to ensure that our applications are reliable, efficient, and provide a seamless user experience.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing Android client code solutions that deliver on product strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines, and principles.
  • Partnering with software engineers, UX/UI, quality engineers, product owners/analysts to deliver high-performing quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful, and powerful in their simplicity.
  • Actively participating in all team agile ceremonies, contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality.
  • Being an active advocate of the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities.
  • Remaining an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development (Kotlin, Swift, 3rd-party libraries, etc.).
  • Influencing and contributing to group discussions and incorporating feedback/communication from the broader team.
  • Mentoring junior to mid-level members of the team.
  • Actively engaging with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.).
  • Owning and leading delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and architects.
  • Consistently sharing best practices and improving processes within and across sprint teams.
  • Identifying technical obstacles early and working closely with the team to find creative solutions.
  • Reviewing pull requests and ensuring adherence to Kotlin and other language idioms.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Intermediate-advanced English fluency.
  • At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply).
  • At least 2 years of experience building Android applications.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Kotlin.
