Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer at Modernize Home Services, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products and services. You will be responsible for designing and executing comprehensive test plans, performing manual, frontend, and backend testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand stakeholder intent while reviewing written requirements to evaluate work completeness.
  • Create Test Data - Generate and evaluate consumer and contractor test data. Evaluate data for integrity and as the building blocks for deeper systemic testing.
  • Develop Test Cases - Understand stakeholder use cases and develop repeatable test cases to allow team members to test systems and products accurately and efficiently.
  • Execute Test Cases - Evaluate results step by step as you execute test cases for large features and while regression testing previously developed ones.
  • Document Defects - Document defects identified in testing using reproduction steps which both technical and non-technical stakeholders can understand while remaining neutral and matter of fact.
  • Perform SQL Queries - Use SQL queries to evaluate data integrity alongside the front-end user experience and integration testing.
  • Interact with Internal Stakeholders - Communicate with stakeholders across all departments to solve problems, establish understanding, and report progress.
  • Evaluate Test Results - Evaluate test results to identify problems and propose solutions in a team environment where solution architecture is encouraged from all sources.
  • Multi-Task - Be able to handle many different priorities and being able to task switch as needed to verify and prioritize production or business issues as they arise throughout the day.
  • Own the Product - Take ownership of the product and how it performs and looks for a user. Take ownership of any defects that make it into production and improve the process on a consistent basis.
  • Contribute Ideas - Provide input and suggestions as to how to increase the team's productivity, release quality, and job enjoyment.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis - Conduct root cause analysis for identified issues and work with development teams to resolve them.
  • Utilize Technical Skills - Utilize your strong technical background to test complex software systems, APIs, and integrations.

Requirements

We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5+ years of software testing experience
  • Experience in agile methodologies (Atlassian suite)
  • Solid skills with database management systems for data querying purposes (SQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Proven experience testing API's (Postman, SoapUI, JMeter, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge in back-end testing techniques
  • Experience in front-end web pages testing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Troubleshooting and problem tracking skills
  • A sharp eye for details
  • Strong understanding of user/stakeholder experience
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and resolve issues
  • Document software failures and anomalies providing thorough detail to facilitate reproduction by developers, or work to identify root cause
  • Develop a deep understanding of our databases and how they interrelate to verify reporting metrics
  • Test automation experience (Selenium, Playwright, API's, etc.)
