Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Assistant Breeder to contribute to the execution of our Research & Development strategy. The successful candidate will support breeding activities, optimize efficiency, and ensure a constant flow of commercially successful varieties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and Development: Assist the Breeder in designing and implementing new technologies and breeding methods to enhance the breeding program.
  • Information Management: Collaborate with the Breeder to design, evaluate, and formulate the short-term breeding plan, work process, and performance metrics.
  • Breeding Trials: Plan, implement, and evaluate breeding trials in line with the breeding plan, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Basic Stock Seeds: Manage and execute the increase and maintenance of basic stock seed in coordination with the Breeder, Stock Seed, and/or Production departments.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate and detailed breeding administration within the breeding team, adhering to procedures and guidelines.
  • Team Coordination: Communicate breeding program activities to technical assistants and crop technicians, providing technical advice to meet agreed standards.
  • Market Knowledge: Develop and maintain market knowledge to translate market demands into breeding goals.
Requirements
  • Education: BSc/MSc in horticulture, plant breeding, genetics, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Few years of experience in plant breeding.
  • Skills: Team player, organization and planning, analytical thinking, interpersonal skills, convincing, problem-solving, innovative, and entrepreneurial.
