About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Architect to join our team at Petco. As a Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for determining and developing architectural approaches and solutions, conducting business reviews, and documenting current systems and developing recommendations for infrastructure design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine and develop architectural approaches and solutions
  • Conduct business reviews and document current systems
  • Develop recommendations for infrastructure design
  • Ensure success of application or infrastructure planning, configuration, and deployments
  • Evaluate existing or proposed systems and business requirements to develop solutions and technologies to solve the business need within the Enterprise Reference Architecture
  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve problems considering system and application capacity and limitations, service level agreements and business requirements
  • Coordinates with other teams and vendors within an application or infrastructure domain to troubleshoot problems, coordinating with department users and system administrators
  • Responsible for quality assurance reviews of assigned projects and the evaluation and documentation of team procedures, applications, and/or infrastructure
  • Identifies opportunities for application, code, or infrastructure reuse
  • Supports the development of software, data delivery, or infrastructure platforms with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different business areas
  • Coordinates architecture implementation and modification activities
  • Assists in post-implementation and continuous-improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality
  • Ensures the conceptual completeness of the technical solution
  • Analyzes the current architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements
  • Identifies, and when necessary, proposes variances to the Enterprise Reference Architecture to accommodate project or business requirements
  • Provides strategic consultation to business partners and IT teams
  • Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities
  • Interacts and interfaces with support partners to ensure solutions are architected correctly

Domain Specialization:

The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following domains:

Information Architecture: Responsible for improving business performance or cost optimization through enterprise information solutions, such as master data management, metadata management, business intelligence, content management, data interoperability, analytics, data integration and related information infrastructure components.

Business Architecture: Responsible for engaging business partners in analyzing, strategizing, and prioritizing business processes and for ensuring that projects realize their intended business benefits.

Security Architecture: Responsible for developing and implementing enterprise information security and compliance architectures and solutions.

Application Architecture: Identify requirements across the application domain, and develop and administer application-specific standards.

Infrastructure Architecture: Identify requirements across an infrastructure domain, and develop and administer infrastructure-specific standards.

Work Environment: The successful candidate will work in an office setting, seated, in artificial light, and working for prolonged periods of time on the computer. Some travel may be required.

Education/Experience: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience; two or more years progressively responsible professional experience in the function.
