Job Title: Global Vice President of Corporate Engagement

At Mercy For Animals, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Vice President of Corporate Engagement to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of farmed animals and contribute to the development of a more sustainable food system.

About the Role:

The Global Vice President of Corporate Engagement will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive corporate engagement strategy that secures the adoption and implementation of corporate policies that significantly reduce suffering for farmed animals. This will involve working closely with the investigations, public engagement, organizing, government affairs, and development teams to ensure that corporate campaigns and relations strategies align with Mercy For Animals' overall strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a global corporate engagement strategy that secures the adoption and implementation of corporate policies that significantly reduce suffering for farmed animals.
  • Oversee the development of grant proposals associated with the program.
  • Manage and track secured grants to meet donor requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Innovate and implement effective strategies for engaging major food companies to secure meaningful animal welfare policies and more plant-forward menus and product lines.
  • Develop and execute strategies for ensuring implementation of corporate policies secured by the campaigns team or in coalition.
  • Identify high-priority regions and targets annually, focusing on areas with the greatest potential for impact.
  • Offer strategic support and mentorship to regional corporate engagement teams and managing directors, ensuring alignment of key metrics, tools, processes, and strategies across regions.
  • Facilitate cross-sharing of best practices while respecting regional autonomy in terms of specific approaches, tone, and priorities.
  • Work closely with the development team to write grants, manage grant implementation, and meet with major donors to cultivate relationships.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of five years' experience in corporate affairs, supply chain management, corporate social responsibility, campaigning, advocacy, or a closely related area.
  • Exceptionally strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the food industry and key farmed animal welfare issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally and persuasively.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and relationships.
  • Willingness and ability to travel with moderate frequency.
  • Experience writing grants, managing grants, and engaging with major funders (preferred).
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
  • Commitment to continued personal and organizational growth in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles.
About Your Team Leader:

Lucas Alvarenga has spent the past decade advocating for farmed animals, with a strong focus on data-driven strategies informed by his background in marketing. Effective altruism and Buddhism heavily influence his approach and decision-making criteria. Lucas has been key in establishing programs in various departments and believes a high-level global strategy is needed to significantly reduce suffering for animals in factory farms.

Compensation and Benefits:

Mercy For Animals offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including no- or low-cost health, vision, and dental insurance; generous paid time off and sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan with a dollar-to-dollar employer match of up to 3% of your annual earnings.

How to Apply:

We consider traditional and nontraditional qualifications and carefully review each application, resume, and cover letter. Feel encouraged to go outside a traditional cover letter and state how you would add to our culture; what we would gain from having you on our team; and how you align with our organizational vision, mission, and values.

We strive to include candidates from historically marginalized communities and those from or in communities impacted by environmental, social, and economic injustice. Come as you are, and help us transform society and construct a truly compassionate food system.
