About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing product engineering initiatives efficiently, under corporate policies, procedures, and specifications, to produce within the parameters of quality and target cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement new HVAC product designs and improve existing ones, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Create and update 3D assemblies, utilizing CAD software such as PTC Creo.
- Develop and maintain engineering drawings and product specifications, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including fabrication areas, to improve scrap material due to design opportunities.
- Evaluate design opportunities for cost-reduction projects, utilizing mechanical design knowledge and CAD modeling experience.
- Design and develop mechanical 3D models, piping, sheet metal, assemblies, and BOMs, adhering to engineering specifications.
- Interact with Product Engineering and Mechanical Design teams to understand system interactions and constraints, providing guidance and feedback.
- Maintain and update product documentation, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Assist in product launches and gather information for the product development process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Propose, evaluate, and implement product improvements, utilizing business acumen and technical expertise.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Product Engineer, working with HVAC/refrigeration (desirable).
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as PTC Creo or other 3D model software.
- CAD modeling experience and mechanical design knowledge.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications for mechanical and pressure components.
- Capable of developing basic tolerance stack-ups and has good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- SAP operational knowledge.
- Ability to prioritize and effectively execute tasks under pressure.
- Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
