Job Title: Senior Designer

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Designer to join our team at HKS, Inc. As a Senior Designer, you will be responsible for leading multiple projects and developing conceptual design, presentations, and implementation documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide and direct multiple project teams to manage the development of design throughout design development and implementation documents
  • Establish the vision and set project goals in conjunction with the client and project team
  • Lead design effort and client presentations to develop and support client relationships
  • Exercise skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues
  • Develop creative design concepts for projects and expand on concepts of others
  • Manage design solutions based on industry standard construction techniques and engineering principles
  • Oversee schematic land and site planning drawings with graphic content to convey ideas, methodologies, and approaches for marketing and proposal requests
  • Oversee the development of and may modify and/or review graphic presentations, 3D rendering, and implementation documents to incorporate the design intent
  • Oversee delivery of complete project design presentation to client user group or public forum
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, fabricators, furniture dealers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives; manage project details with consulting design or engineering firms
  • Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions to maintain goals and objectives of projects
  • Work with respective teams to manage client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination
  • Oversee product research and direct project designers with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selections
  • Lead and collaborate in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines
  • Manage conflict effectively and encourage a healthy team environment
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team, including promoting communication
  • Responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements and maintaining accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate
  • Travel will be required

Qualifications:

  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field
  • Architectural registration required (Cédula Profesional)
  • Typically 15+ years of experience in equivalent in quality design firms
  • Sustainable design accreditation required
  • Proficiency in Revit preferred
  • Proficiency in architectural software such as 3D modeling (including Rhino and Grasshopper, 3D Studio MAX, etc.) and AutoCAD required
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, and InDesign graphic software required
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred
  • Successful track record with managing a team and performing duties in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines
  • Knowledge of the appropriate use of building systems, materials, and technologies
  • Knowledge of furniture, furnishings, and equipment (FF&E) and Environmental Graphic process
  • Knowledge of architectural building systems, applicable codes, and regulations
  • Strong presentation skills and graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
