As an Industrial Operations Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting station/gateway operations on site by analyzing and developing improvement initiatives. You will execute base PDCA or DMAIC projects to drive productivity, service, and cost performance across all areas of operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and monitoring short-term and long-range plans regarding expansion procedures, staffing, equipment, vehicles, and products at the operations.
  • Providing technical training to personnel in workshops, seminars, and on-the-job training sessions in areas such as operations, manning, contingency planning, productivity, cost effectiveness, and manpower scheduling.
  • Monitoring productivity, service, and cost performance in all areas of operations and assisting personnel in implementing required changes.
  • Maintaining communication between operations and corporate departments to provide technical expertise relating to facility requests, including lease termination, new location, five-year planning, equipment justification, layout, vehicle planning, and cost justification.

You will also participate in studies designed to implement sound, innovative engineering concepts into operations, producing benefits for FedEx and our customers. Additionally, you will prepare management information systems to aid in controlling and developing operations goals.

This role requires a strong background in industrial engineering, with a focus on process improvement and operational excellence. Key qualifications include:

  • At least two years of experience working as an operation engineer in manufacturing or services areas, supporting operations areas, positions like Quality Engineer, Operations Engineer, Process Engineer, or Continuous Improvement Engineers.
  • Implementation and management of KPIs such as productivity and efficiency.
  • Developing procedures and operative manuals.
  • Mapping and analyzing processes.
  • Preparing and presenting reports.
  • Performing cost and benefit analysis.
  • Training people, operative, and administrative staff.
  • Experience with time and movements analysis, line balancing, or routes calculation.
  • Leading root cause analysis initiatives using analysis tools like Pareto, Ishikawa, Trend Analysis, etc.
  • High Excel skills, including formulas, dynamic charts, and macros.
