Job PurposeWe are seeking a dynamic and results-driven PE Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical circuit design, component selection, circuit analysis, and testing of BorgWarner power electronics products.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical circuits and systems to meet technical product requirements
- Conduct electrical debug, test, characterization, and validation of power electronics designs
- Specify, identify, select, and test key electrical components
- Create circuit board designs, substrates, and electrical interconnects/bus structures
- Develop optimized electrical, mechanical, and thermal solutions to meet schedule, technical, and cost constraints
- Collaborate with systems engineers and program teams to ensure proper allocation of requirements and verification of those requirements allocated to the electrical competency
- Support product development teams with technical design analysis, trade-off studies, FMEAs, design reviews, and customer presentations
- Understand vehicle system components and functions that interface to the power electronics subsystem and support systems engineering and application engineering to investigate vehicle systems issues
- Work with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution, and verification of power electronics products
- Apply best practices and procedures for analysis, design, or experimental procedures
- Document and share best practices
- BS Electrical Engineering required
- 10 years' experience required in some combination of the following areas or an engineering internship in a related field: Automotive electronics product development
- Power Electronics circuits design, specifically motor drive inverters
- Modelling, simulating, and testing of power electronics
- Familiar with analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of designing, integrating, and testing of DC to AC inverter motor drives and controls preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Engineering internship experience in a manufacturing/engineering industry preferred
- Understanding of engineering theories related to designated engineering function and applies those theories to a variety of complex tasks and situations
- Willingness/ability to travel 5% both domestically and internationally
