About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distinguished Engineer to join our team at Capital One. As a key member of our engineering community, you will be responsible for driving innovation and excellence in software engineering and solution architecture.

As a Distinguished Engineer, you will be a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in your domain, providing technical leadership and guidance to our engineering teams. You will be responsible for articulating and evangelizing a bold technical vision, decomposing complex problems into practical and operational solutions, and ensuring the quality of technical design and implementation.

You will also serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics, such as performance, scalability, and operability, and continue learning and injecting advanced technical knowledge into our community.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams
  • Articulate and evangelize a bold technical vision for your domain
  • Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions
  • Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation
  • Serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics

Requirements
  • Intermediate-Advanced English fluency
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years of experience in Software engineering and solution architecture
  • At least 7 years experience in Mobile technology and frameworks (iOS or Android)
  • At least 7 years of experience in Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Software engineering and solution architecture
  • At least 10 years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, etc.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support
  • At least 3 years of experience with public or private cloud technologies
  • 10+ years of experience with Networking (BGP, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, Cloud Networking and Data Center Networking)
  • 5+ years of experience in building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • AWS Certifications
