Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Compliance Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive global HR compliance strategy that addresses regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership: Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate compliance considerations into key business decisions.
  • Provide Oversight and Guidance: Provide oversight and guidance on HR compliance matters, focusing on the Americas, Mexico, Canada, and Europe.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Develop and Review HR Policies: Responsible for development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations in all jurisdictions where Acuity Brands operates.
  • Partner with HR Teams and Legal: Partner with HR teams and legal to address compliance gaps and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and Deliver Training Programs: Develop and deliver training programs and communication initiatives to enhance awareness of HR compliance requirements among employees and managers globally.
  • Participate in HR Governance Committee: Participate on the HR Governance Committee and partner on regular audits.
  • Prepare Reports and Presentations: Prepare regular reports and presentations on HR compliance activities, trends, and risks.
  • Provide Leadership and Mentoring: Provide leadership and mentoring for department and other company employees.
Requirements
  • Strong Understanding of Employment Laws: Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations across different regions, including Americas, Mexico, Canada, and Europe.
  • Ability to Navigate HR Compliance Requirements: Ability to navigate and understand the nuances of HR compliance requirements internationally.
  • Strong Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Meticulous Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent.
  • 12 or More Years of Experience: 12 or more years of experience.
  • Preferred Education: Human Resources, JD, or legal studies preferred.
  • Preferred Experience: Certification in HR (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) or Compliance (e.g., CCEP) is a plus.
Physical and Travel Requirements
  • Sedentary Work: Sedentary Work – Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Domestic and/or International Travel: Domestic and/or International 0 - 25%.
