About the Role

LHR Americas is seeking a highly experienced Geologist or Geophysicist to join our team as a Senior Geologist - Unconventional Resource Expert. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the unconventional portfolio through technical, risk, resource, and commerciality assessments and strategic plans to support the de-risking of unconventional fields from exploration to development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct geological technical assessments of resource plays to ensure productivity and risk assessments to identify gaps in knowledge and quantify COS.
  • Perform resource assessments to confirm value and support reserve estimation.
  • Provide geological support to reservoir engineering with commerciality assessments.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and monitoring to ensure the best plays are being de-risked and targets are being met.
  • Collaborate with the Exploration & Characterization Divisions to support planning and execution of wells.
  • Evaluate current practices and identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Effectively communicate through presentations and written reports to technical peers and management.
  • Provide recommendations and advice in your particular area of expertise.
  • Mentor younger staff and provide opportunities for knowledge sharing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or related sciences; advanced degree is preferred.
  • 15 years of experience, with at least 5-10 years in unconventional plays, including shale or tight gas exploration, development, or strategic planning, across multiple unconventional hydrocarbon basins.
  • A solid background in the play-based approach to evaluate tight sand and shale plays, evaluation of risk, and resource assessment within unconventional.
  • Experience in managing and de-risking a portfolio of tight sand or shale opportunities from exploration through development, with a strong understanding of the geological and engineering factors that determine success within different unconventional plays.
  • Knowledge in the integration of sedimentology, depositional environments, petrophysics, geomechanics, basic geophysics, and basic reservoir engineering is preferred.
  • Experience integrating basic reservoir engineering and geology to tight and source rock reservoirs is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with reservoir engineers and reserve auditors to determine reserve and resource estimations is preferred.
  • Experience working with the production and drilling departments on well performance and optimization is preferred.
  • Experience working with reservoir engineering teams on economics of unconventional field development plans is preferred.
What We Offer
  • Monthly Base Salary – aligned with company employees with similar skills.
  • Monthly Over base – 25% of your monthly base salary.
  • Benefits Supplement – 20% of your monthly base salary, after 3 years of service, reward increases to 25% of base, after 6 years 30% of base, and after 12 years 35% of base.
  • Severance Package (2-year vest period) – year 2 to 5: 2 week's pay for each year of service, Year 6+: 4 week's pay for each year after.
  • Employment Tax – if the employee chooses to separate themselves from their 'home country' for income tax purposes, most will not be required to pay 'home country' income taxes; the company will not report income to the 'home country' governments. Please check with your tax advisor for specifics relating to you.
  • Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) (eligible after 12 months of service) – maximum purchase equal to 10% monthly base pay with a cap, 20% share discount.
  • Incentive Plan – annual; based on performance, approx. 1.8x monthly base salary.
  • Travel Allowance – annual; approx. $8,200 per household member 11+ years old residing in Saudi Arabia and $6,000 per household member under 11 years old.
  • Medical/Dental Plan – complimentary in-Kingdom Johns Hopkins medical care/facilities for employees and eligible family members. In-Kingdom dental services subsidized.
  • Educational Assistance Plan (EAP) – Out of Kingdom Assistance: 90% of expenses with a maximum per child, lesser of 5x monthly base salary or the company max ($48.5K), plus 3 round-trip economy air travel tickets; undergraduate college-age children get 2 round-trip economy air travel tickets; In Kingdom Assistance: 2x monthly base salary or the company max ($16.3K).
  • Settling in Allowance – one-time payment; Family Status - 100% of monthly base salary; Single/Bachelor Status – 60% of monthly base salary.
