About the Role

We are seeking an experienced software engineering portfolio manager to lead a diverse range of technology projects and a team of developers in Mexico. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and experience working with cloud-based solutions.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of developers with expertise in distributed microservices and full stack systems, guiding them to create innovative solutions that meet regulatory needs for Capital One.
  • Collaborate closely with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences for our customers.
  • Mentor other members of the engineering community, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance the overall quality of our technology offerings.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, including programming languages like JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, experimenting with new tools and techniques to improve our solutions.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in intermediate-advanced level English fluency is essential for effective communication within the team and with stakeholders.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, is necessary for this role.
  • At least 4 years of people management experience is required, demonstrating the ability to lead high-performing teams and mentor junior engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A master's degree in computer science or a related field may be advantageous for this role, particularly if it includes specialized courses in software engineering or leadership.
  • 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following programming languages: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go, would be highly valued.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud service platforms, such as AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service, would be beneficial for this role.
  • 4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks and communities would be advantageous, allowing you to contribute to and learn from the broader developer ecosystem.
  • 7+ years of people management experience would be highly valued, demonstrating your ability to lead large teams and mentor senior engineers.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile development methodologies would be beneficial for this role, ensuring you can adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
Estimated Salary Range:

$120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
