About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Regulatory Affairs Specialist to support our Local rating businesses in Latin America, with a focus on Mexico.

This role will be based in Mexico City and will report to the Head of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs for Moody's Local in New York.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating compliance and regulatory affairs efforts in Mexico and other jurisdictions, ensuring that Moody's Local entities meet domestic regulatory requirements, and facilitating the escalation and resolution of compliance and regulatory issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the designated compliance officer and primary liaison with regulators in Mexico and other jurisdictions, responding to supervisory inquiries, preparing periodic compliance reports, and preparing internal staff for regulatory examinations.
  • Identify, analyze, and report policy and regulatory developments that could affect Moody's Local businesses in each relevant jurisdiction, contributing to the drafting of responses to consultation papers and other policy-related submissions, and managing any regulatory change.
  • Support the development and implementation of codes of conduct, compliance policies, and procedures in alignment with Moody's Local regional standards, advising employees on their implementation, including securities trading, gifts, outside business interests, confidentiality, separation, recordkeeping, and regulatory disclosures.
  • Contribute to the drafting of talking points and briefing packages for meetings with regulators, government bodies, and standard setters to advocate for ML's policy positions and in support of strategic projects.
  • Support the compliance surveillance and investigations team where necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of training materials and presentations as needed.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • 5-8 years of experience in compliance and/or regulatory affairs at a financial industry regulator or regulated financial services firm.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in business, law, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to lead meetings with financial regulators and senior executives in a multinational corporation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with fluency in English and Spanish, both verbal and written.
  • Professional, proactive, flexible, diligent, and dependable qualities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business and regulatory environments.
  • Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, inclusion, and trust.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with regulators and other external stakeholders.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills.

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
