Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.

This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

This role performs a variety of technical duties and activities including experimental procedures, collection of data from manufacturing processes, data analysis, graphical analysis, and carry out technical presentations.

The successful candidate will apply process engineering knowledge, skills and expertise from concept through delivery of process including necessary equipment at production areas.

They will work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable variables to fully understand mechanistic root-cause.

They will exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining robust and sustainable solutions.

They will support projects under appropriate supervision and direction from responsible engineer or supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

This role is an individual contributor, lead or team member with clear direction provided by responsible Engineer or Supervisor, with ownership of a significant part of the accomplishment within the assignment.

They will maintain and improve manufacturing processes metrics (FPY, RTY, OEE).

They will support administrative tasks, such as documenting and releasing processes (MPIs, VAs, improving or developing safety and ergonomics guidelines for equipment use.

They will coordinate equipment/fixtures, prototypes.

They will assist on process improvement/changes trainings for Product Engineering's, Product Technicians and Initial Training Trainers.

They will support on equipment selection, manufacturing installation, start-up and acceptance (Pilot, Pre-Pro Runs & EEM).

They will lead projects under Engineering supervision and direction, executing actions based on established methodologies and policies.

They will work with and facilitate alignment between manufacturing, development and upstream process experts to help delivering capable process to meet customer specs.

They will utilize basic statistical tools, engineering data, and DMAIC/DESGN/Lean methodologies/PFMEA to help developing process understanding to support robust manufacturing processes.

They will support execution of roadmap and project portfolio.

They will support product and process improvement qualification plans. Assist on developing technical reports for internal publication.

They will support problem-solving in manufacturing and Customer Notifications including root cause identification and propose resolution.

They will work on problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

They will assist on the introduction of safe and ergonomic devices and processes to enable a safe work environment.

They will support the implementation of a robust Product Quality Architecture for new and existing products.

They will help on determine substitute consumables to avoid an adverse process impact.

They will propose and implement iKaizens and Safety Kaizens.

They will support and perform 5S implementation in work area to achieve Plant goal.

They will support Global Standardization processes/projects.

Competencies (knowledge, skills, and behaviors)Experiences/Education - Required

A. Education

Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronic Technical Career

or 2 year Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronic, Industrial Engineering degree

B. Work Experience

2-4 year experience in manufacturing engineering.

Experiences/Education - Desired

English skills at 30%

SPC application experience

This role may require up to 10% travel based on business needs.
