Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Android Lead

We are seeking a skilled Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Android to join our team at Capital One National Association. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative and inclusive environment where you will have the chance to drive a major transformation within the company.

The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong background in Android application development and Kotlin programming. Additionally, they should have experience in people management and be able to lead a team of mobile developers.

As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Android, you will be responsible for developing Android client code solutions that deliver on Product Strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines, and principles. You will also partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high-performing quality customer experiences.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing Android client code solutions that deliver on Product Strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines, and principles.
  • Partnering with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high-performing quality customer experiences.
  • Actively participating in all team Agile ceremonies, contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality.
  • Being an active advocate of the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities.
  • Remaining an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development (Kotlin, Swift, 3rd party libraries, etc.).
  • Influencing and contributing to group discussions and incorporating feedback/communication from the broader team.
  • Mentoring junior to mid-level members of the team.
  • Actively engaging with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.).
  • Own and lead delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and Architects.
  • Consistently sharing best practices and improving processes within and across sprint teams.
  • Identifying technical obstacles early and working closely with the team to find creative solutions.
  • Reviewing pull requests and ensuring adherence to Kotlin and other language idioms.
  • Growing and providing SME level leadership while managing a team of mobile developers.
