Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applied Scientist to join our Amazon Devices team in Guadalajara, Mexico. As a key member of our Science and Data Technology team, you will design, evangelize, and implement state-of-the-art solutions for never-before-solved problems, helping Amazon Devices to provide customer-centric products.
About the Role
As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will be responsible for:
- Defining key business metrics and building input models to identify patterns and drivers of output.
- Driving actions at scale using scientifically-based methods and decision-making.
- Designing and developing complex mathematical, statistical, machine learning, and GenAI models to define strategic and tactical needs and drive business and technical solutions.
- Designing experiments, testing hypotheses, and building actionable models.
- Prototyping models using modeling languages such as R or software languages such as Python.
- Working with software engineering teams to drive scalable, real-time implementations.
- Utilizing Amazon systems and tools to effectively work with terabytes of data.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 5+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
- PhD or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience.
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.
Preferred Qualifications
We are open to hiring candidates with experience in:
- Modeling tools such as R, scikitlearn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy, etc.
- Large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark, etc.
