About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Corn Operations Lead to oversee the production of corn trial seeds and breeding line seeds in our winter generation nurseries. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as expertise in corn physiology and agronomy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing field operations, including mapping, labeling, monitoring, and data collection. They will also supervise the flowering process, plan and monitor harvests, and track work plan progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise pollination processes from sowing to harvest
- Manage and monitor field operations, collaborating with agronomists on necessary interventions
- Supervise the flowering process, including workforce training and off-type removal
- Plan, monitor, and participate in harvests, including maturity evaluation and drying operations
- Track work plan progress and evaluate performance within scope
- Participate in inventory management, identifying equipment needs and requesting necessary items
- Drive innovation through technology adoption and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
- Collaborate on various projects, adapting to seasonal work plans and departmental needs
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Plant Breeding/Agro Sciences
- Several years of experience in a similar area
- Knowledge of corn physiology and agronomy, seed production, and seed processing
- Management experience of seasonal teams
- Reporting skills
- Competence in Microsoft Office packages and data management systems
- Autonomy and rigor in your work
- English language proficiency
- Driving license (B type)
