Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified substitute teacher to join our team. As a substitute teacher, you will be responsible for studying and following the curriculum and lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher or the principal, applying various teaching techniques to encourage participation and facilitate learning, preparing educational materials, assigning classwork, taking attendance according to school policy, keeping track of students' progress, reporting any incidents regarding students' behavior in and out of the classroom, maintaining a tidy and safe class environment, overseeing school equipment, and ensuring students use it properly.

Responsibilities

  • Study and follow the curriculum and lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher or the principal.
  • Apply various teaching techniques to encourage participation and facilitate learning.
  • Prepare educational materials, such as notes, exercises, and additional resources.
  • Assign classwork.
  • Taking attendance according to school policy.
  • Keep track of students' progress and write down information that will be useful to the regular teacher.
  • Report any incidents regarding students' behavior in and out of the classroom.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe class environment for students.
  • Oversee school equipment and ensure students use it properly.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School or higher.
  • Appropriate experience may be accepted in lieu of any Education Requirements.
  • Classroom Management: Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom setting. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to give clear instructions and explanations to students.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to handle various grade levels and subjects. Ability to quickly adjust to new classroom environments and routines.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to think on your feet and handle unexpected situations. Strong decision-making skills to address student needs and classroom challenges.
  • Professionalism: Punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic. Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Patience and Compassion: Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and learning abilities. Understanding and patience in dealing with challenging behaviors.
  • Educational Knowledge: Basic understanding of curriculum and lesson planning. Familiarity with educational tools and technology.
