Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with leadership and key personnel in Intelligent Automation to formulate site-specific automation strategies, incorporating digital solutions and machine learning while leveraging common technical solutions across various locations.
  • Partner with technical systems engineers to design and implement strategies aimed at process optimization, enhancing efficiency, reducing cycle times, and elevating product quality.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to conduct thorough analyses of existing processes, pinpointing areas for enhancement and proposing suitable technological interventions. Responsibilities include developing project charters, conducting risk assessments, and overseeing validation processes.
  • Design and carry out laboratory experiments, pilot studies, and technology transfer initiatives. Manage external contractors and vendors involved in process development and technology transfer projects.
  • Collaborate with team members and other necessary functions to create and implement comprehensive playbooks for the deployment and replication of intelligent automation technologies.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to address process-related challenges, enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain robust relationships with counterparts in Manufacturing/Operations, business units, Global Integrated Engineering, and other relevant departments to ensure alignment of strategies and objectives.
  • Mentor and develop engineering capabilities to foster the ongoing evolution of intelligent automation technologies through skills assessment, capability enhancement, and training of associates, including engineers and technicians.
  • Ensure that selected intelligent automation solutions deliver value by optimizing asset utilization, improving OEE, enhancing quality, reducing costs, and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Stay informed on the latest scientific and technical advancements, maintaining a high level of industry knowledge.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, or Computer Engineering/Software Systems.
  • At least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing engineering, automation design, technology transfer, and project engineering, preferably within regulated industries such as Medical Devices or Pharmaceuticals.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in intelligent automation solutions and digital transformations, including machine learning, vision systems, robotics, AI, and data analytics.
  • Strong understanding of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for resolving complex process issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective influence based on sound reasoning.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel 25% to 30% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, or Computer Engineering/Software Systems.
  • Project Management Training and/or Certification.
  • Industry 4.0 Training and/or Certification.
  • Proficiency in process analysis and statistical analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Knowledge of automation and control systems, including SCADA and PLC.
