We seek an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and develop thermostats and smart home IoT products. This role values prior experience with microcontroller and microprocessor designs, analog circuits, and high-speed digital. You will be involved in the entire NPI design process, from researching new technologies, developing proof-of-concepts, creating and owning complete schematics, building prototypes, testing, validating, and launching products into high-volume mass production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • NPI Project Hardware Design: Participate in NPI project hardware design, including schematic design, PCB layout, BOM release, prototype build, debugging, engineering testing, and QA & Agency support.
  • Testing and Validation: Collaborate closely with the test design department to perform testing, collect data, and validate electrical designs.
  • Deliver hardware designs on time to meet project schedules and customer requirements.
  • Global Collaboration: Engage in conference meetings with global teams to coordinate project progress.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with other engineering functions, product management, suppliers, plant personnel, and stakeholders to develop low-cost design solutions, methods, and product improvements, and to support build programs for platform, major, and minor product development projects.
  • Design Analysis: Perform analog and digital analysis, feasibility studies, component selection, and schematic capture.
  • Engineering Changes: Implement changes as required.
  • Component Management: Approve component specifications and engineering drawings, and release parts and subsystems for production.
  • Documentation: Ensure thorough documentation of designs, processes, and test results for clear communication and traceability.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve engineering-related problems.
  • Program Planning: Plan and implement product development and test programs.
  • Communication: Share information with internal and external customers, as needed.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in product development.
  • Familiarity with electronics product design, development, validation, and document release.
  • Knowledge of NPI Phase Gate and ECRO Change Management processes.
  • Familiarity with PCB layout tools (Mentor Graphics Expedition or equivalent), analog simulation (LT Spice or equivalent), typical lab tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, multimeters, etc.
  • Strong testing and troubleshooting skills.
  • Analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Understanding of electronics manufacturing methods.
  • English proficiency.
