Enterprise Risk Management Director

We are seeking a seasoned Enterprise Risk Management Director to join our team in Mexico City.

Capital One is a leading financial services company that has been growing rapidly around the world. We're expanding our tech teams globally, and this role will play a pivotal part in shaping our international risk management strategy.
Job Summary:
This position requires a highly experienced risk management professional who can develop and drive enterprise-level risk management initiatives related to our international expansion. You will analyze initiatives to identify key risks, such as cybersecurity and technology risks, to ensure our company remains well-managed and avoids unnecessary risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Risk Management Function: Coordinate work related to Capital One Mexico's risk management function, collaborating with Technology, Cyber, and other infrastructure function teams, Lines of Business, and second-line defense teams.
- Deliver Against Strategy: Assist the Capital One Mexico and ES Risk leadership team in delivering against their strategy and service model.
- Process Development: Participate in and support the development of Capital One Mexico's processes and the related risk management framework across Capital One.
- Risk Assessment: Drive entity and process level assessments to identify related risks and mitigation plans based on industry standards and best practices related to risk management (especially technology risk).
- Analytical Thinking: Analyze information to proactively identify risks, trends, and process improvements; supporting reporting on international risk topics to management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on the changing Mexican regulatory environment and understand the impacts to our efforts.
- Project Delivery: Assist with project and program delivery, including project and process management, reporting, engagement in senior leadership meetings, drafting and reviewing materials for senior management and the Board of directors, and other governance activities.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in risk and other management forums and contribute to continuous improvement of risk and project/program management practices.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Support direction, manage expectations, and support/help lead cross-functional teams through various initiatives.
- Regulatory Interactions: Support interactions with Internal Audit and Regulatory agencies related to our work, as applicable.
- Policy Development: Write and revise documents such as policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. Develop and enhance processes, tools, templates, and job aids.
- Presentation Skills: Draft, contribute to, edit, and deliver presentations that aid in the design, development, refinement, and usage of risk methods.
- Special Projects: Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis.
Requirements:
- Language Fluency: Fluent in Spanish and English, both spoken and written.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in finance, economics, business, or related field.
- Industry Experience: At least 6 years of experience within the banking or financial services industry, with a strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and operational, compliance, and strategic risks.
- Risk Management Expertise: At least 6 years of experience in risk management, compliance, legal, or regulatory relations, including knowledge of local and international regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Education: Advanced degree in business, law, computer science, or related field.
- Technology Experience: 5+ years of experience in technology, technology risk management, or cybersecurity.
- Tech Development Operations: 2+ years experience supporting tech development operations and teams.
- US-Based Risk Management: 2+ years risk management experience for a US-based company.
Compensation: The estimated salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
