Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Process Engineer to join our engineering department at Corning Inc. The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for leading and overseeing various engineering projects, providing technical expertise, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides day-to-day problem-solving support to production, development, and research operations.
- Troubleshoots material, process, and equipment issues, identifies root cause, and implements corrective action.
- Daily monitors of metrics, identifying special and common causes.
- Creates and updates manufacturing procedures to maximize process efficiency.
- Leads and participates in manufacturing cost reduction and product/process improvement DMAIC projects (product design, materials, processes, tooling, quality control, production equipment capabilities).
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other stakeholders.
- Supports new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation, and training.
- Ensures safety of operators and equipment and complies with safety and environmental regulations.
- Provides guidelines to technicians.
- Estimates production times, personnel requirements, and related costs to provide information to drive management decisions.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance to the team, assisting them in resolving complex technical issues and ensuring high-quality outputs.
Requirements
- Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent combination of engineering degree.
- +2 years engineering experience.
- Ability to identify potential process problems and implement effective solutions.
- Experience applying statistical tools.
- Demonstrates methodical analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate at different organizational levels.
- Ability to coordinate a group of individuals from external departments to fix an issue.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of cable manufacturing process and equipment.
- Manufacturing experience and ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
- SAP knowledge.
- Engineering software and tools, including CAD software, simulation tools, and project management software.
