About the Role:
Aptiv is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our Advanced Safety & User Experience division. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the electrical hardware design of automotive Safety Electronics modules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work independently on design tasks to lead the electrical hardware design of Safety Electronics modules.
- Review customer specifications and design Safety Electronics Electrical Hardware Products.
- Design and develop electrical hardware products, including microprocessor and DSP digital core, high-speed memory, and video signals, analog and digital control logic, linear and switching power supplies.
- Perform worst-case analysis and simulations to ensure compliance to customer requirements.
- Support product design reviews and create and maintain schematic and assembly drawings.
- Develop and maintain electrical DFMEA and generate electrical information to ECAD for PCB layout.
- Support hardware prototype builds, create product verification plans, and perform testing.
- Support EMC and validation testing and utilize structured problem-solving techniques for test failure resolution.
- Present product design, analysis, and testing to customers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Familiarity with Power Supply design principles and lab equipment experience with power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators, and multimeters.
- Familiarity with or experience using basic structured problem-solving techniques and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Mentor Graphics DxDesigner schematic and Expedition layout tools and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic to support Product team design efforts and timing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years' hands-on experience in electrical product design from requirements analysis through product launch.
- Experience using simulation and familiarity with industry-standard environmental and electrical design and test standards.
- Experience designing for and testing EMC compliance and experience with MathCad, Maple, or equivalent software and simulation tools.
- Experience with or coursework on antenna theory, microcontrollers, digital signal processing, and high-speed memory.
- Experience leading a design project through to production launch and ability to multitask across various project activities.
- Ability to work with a global program team.
