Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

Emerson Discrete Automation is seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our supply chain team, you will be responsible for leading and directing activities related to supplier qualification, development, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead supplier development projects for strategic suppliers, improving supplier performance and reducing PPM through the use of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality improvement tools.
  • Support strategic procurement projects and initiatives, evaluating and selecting suppliers based on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Conduct on-site quality system and manufacturing product and process audits, and participate in the Strategic Procurement Project Management Process.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships, and assist in leading supplier business reviews.
  • Work with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls, and develop quality assurance plans.
  • Assist manufacturing sites with tactical supplier issues, and lead corrective and preventive actions as required.
Requirements:
  • Technical degree required, with expertise across a variety of manufacturing techniques preferred.
  • Ability to identify areas of opportunity, develop and implement plans, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of various quality system methodologies, including 8D, MSA, FAI, Control Plan, AQL, APQP, Lean, 5 Why's, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, FMEA, PPAP, etc.
  • 3-5 years experience in supplier improvement efforts, with demonstrated analytical, communication, project management, and decision-making skills.
  • Up to 50% travel required, with the ability to travel globally.
  • Must possess project management and auditing skills, and be proficient in quality techniques including FMEA, SPC, DOE, Gage R&R, GD&T, and process mapping.
