Position Overview

Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA) is a leading distributor of a diverse array of medical and surgical instruments utilized in diagnosing and treating various health conditions. OCA seeks to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge necessary for the safe and effective application of these products through Professional Education initiatives, workshops, and training sessions. This role is a regional position within LAD, responsible for leveraging clinical expertise to design and deliver educational content focused on the proper use of Olympus products. The incumbent will utilize product knowledge and clinical acumen to facilitate the safe and effective application of Olympus products during professional educational events and provide hands-on training at various workshops.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver educational support regarding the safe and effective application of Olympus products across all Professional Education programs, particularly focusing on smaller, less complex initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Professional Education Curriculum Development Managers and Coordinators in LAD to ensure the successful delivery of educational programs.
  • Review all educational materials in accordance with internal protocols, ensuring compliance with product usage guidelines, validating clinical content, and securing necessary approvals.
  • Enhance the quality of educational components within Professional Education courses through collaboration with marketing, Coordinators, Curriculum Development, and Program Managers.
  • Assess the accuracy and completeness of Olympus products, models, and non-inventory items required for Professional Education courses, ensuring timely procurement and delivery of resources to facilitate effective learning experiences.
  • Coordinate the layout, timing, and rotations for lab sessions.
  • Support the execution of on-site educational courses.
  • Provide clinical and product expertise regarding Olympus products in alignment with product labeling and usage instructions, ensuring all discussions adhere to the intended use of the products.
  • Manage inventory, setup, and dismantling of equipment during professional education courses.
  • Gather feedback from events to identify areas for improvement through discussions with faculty, registered participants, and other Olympus colleagues.
  • Conduct Olympus CDS, clinical nurse, and technician training sessions, both virtually and in-person.
Position Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a clinical discipline, MD, Biomedical Engineering, or a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a medical device company or direct experience with medical devices in a clinical environment.
  • For candidates with an MD, Biomedical Engineering, or related degree, 2 years of educational or clinical experience in a relevant Olympus field is required.
  • For those with an Associate's degree, 3 years of educational or clinical experience in a relevant Olympus field is required.
  • Without an MD, Biomedical Engineering, or Associate's degree, 4 years of educational or clinical experience in a relevant Olympus field is required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of work time, primarily within LATAM (Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina) and Central America, with potential international travel.
  • Ability to travel by airplane is required.
  • Capability to operate a vehicle is necessary, as activities within Mexico City will involve visiting hospitals, training sites, and course delivery locations.
  • Comfortable working in a training environment that utilizes human cadavers, live animals, animal tissue, and other synthetic materials in a humane manner to support educational needs.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional certification in a related field is advantageous.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply technical product information.
  • Technical skills to identify and resolve product-related issues.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments with overlapping deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Clinical expertise in medical devices and procedural knowledge.
