About the Role

British American Tobacco is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Planning Intern to join our team in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. As a key member of our Supply Chain team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production plans and maintaining optimal inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Place materials purchase orders/contracts in-line with supplier lead-times to meet multiple factory production plan requirements in SAP and Rapid Response system.
  • Ensure period of material cover is sufficient, whilst maintaining target inventory levels and optimal supplier price.
  • Arrange delivery of materials with the supplier to the factory and where necessary resolve any logistics issues.
  • Execute all cost reduction activities initiated by procurement, factory, etc.
  • Explore opportunities for improved planning efficiency and placing of materials orders.
  • Input master data into SAP and Rapid Response system for new materials.
  • Work with the Production Planning team when a material shortage is identified to ensure the issue is resolved quickly with minimum impact to the factory.
  • Liaise with suppliers on an ongoing basis to reserve production capacity (by providing material forecasts) to meet future supply requirements for multiple factories.
  • Highlight serious supplier issues and work with the management team to resolve issues quickly and with minimal impact to the business.
  • Ensure activities within Weekly Control Cycle process are executed on time in full.
Requirements
  • General Knowledge on Supply Chain, specific skills will be developed during the internship.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Good English proficiency (at least 80%).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • To work unsupervised and under pressure.
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Student in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or any equivalent qualifications.
