Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Operations Manager to join our SMA II team at AbbVie. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading a regional team of Study Management Associates (SMAs) and driving best-in-class study execution across global geographies.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management: Provide guidance and support to direct reports, promoting skill enhancement, strategic thinking, and continuous learning within a globally inclusive and empowering environment.
  2. Performance Management: Conduct regular performance discussions, set clear goals, and track progress to ensure team members reach their full potential.
  3. Mentorship and Development: Offer stretch opportunities, individualized development plans, and coaching to enable SMAs to grow into future leadership roles.
  4. Resource Management: Efficiently manage resources to support business continuity, shifting needs, and organizational deliverables across the portfolio.
  5. Quality Systems and Training: Contribute to the development of Quality Systems Documents and training curriculum for roles within SMAO.
  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Nurture relationships with direct reports, partnerships, and cross-functional stakeholders to implement aggressive execution strategies and drive results across study teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a health care or scientific field.
  • Minimum 8 years of clinical research experience, with 6+ years of relevant study operations management experience.
  • At least 3 years of direct people management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including influencing, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues and drive smart decision making.
  • Experience in drug development/clinical operations, including knowledge of ICH and GCP guidelines and the global regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated success in study execution across global geographies and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
