Job Title: Sustainability Engineer, CO2e Assessment Specialist

Job Summary: We seek a skilled Sustainability Engineer, CO2e Assessment Specialist to develop and implement CO2e assessment methods and tools within our Cost Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability frameworks, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a CO2e neutral reference for Harman Automotive products to a component level.
  • Utilize internal and external databases to build CO2 assessment models establishing Design-to-Cost, CO2e reduction targets for components, modules, and assemblies designed into Harman Automotive products.
  • Develop CO2e tools and processes within the cost engineering infrastructure.
  • Lead cost engineering team upskilling on sustainability-specific calculation and reporting.
  • Contribute to electronic system cost and CO2e modeling solutions, identifying analytics to establish trend data.
  • Develop close technical relationships with suppliers to identify best cost solutions, including emerging technologies.
  • Represent sustainability in overarching initiatives to integrate sustainability in design and sourcing processes.
  • Support Procurement teams during negotiating events with target CO2e targets.
  • Identify and drive category strategy activities to meet best CO2e solution, aligning with cross-functional teams.
  • Closely collaborate with sustainability teams in businesses and corporate departments to ensure comprehensive implementation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years work experience in manufacturing and assembly of electronic and electrical systems, sustainability/cost engineering of electronic systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge in electronic, electrical, and mechanical components integrated into an assembly.
  • Demonstrated minimum 5 years experience with factors impacting design to CO2e.
  • Proven experience in sustainability engineering, environmental management, or a similar role, ideally within a corporate setting.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Proven experience in successfully dealing with decarbonization strategies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, sustainability reporting, and the use of sustainability software and tools.
  • Technical contribution on reviewing the work of other team members.
  • Ability to solve complex technical topics through structured solutions.
  • Must be able to influence others to drive alignment on proposed technical solutions.
  • Good presentation skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present complex technical topics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with all levels of a global organization.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, highly measured, results-focused environment.
  • Experience supporting Procurement in supplier negotiations.
  • Accepts overall accountability.
  • Fluency in English.
