About the Role:

The Cloud Operations Engineer II administers and/or engineers server solutions or applications in support of Umpqua Bank initiatives. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-level customer service to bank associates.
  • Assisting or advising other TAG teams on technical issues.
  • Preparing system solution designs, implementing & maintaining complex enterprise-class systems and applications.
  • Analyzing the performance of infrastructure to assist with capacity planning in both public (Microsoft Azure) and private cloud environments.
  • Participating in vulnerability remediation on infrastructure components and Disaster Recovery planning/participation.
  • Learning or using Agile principles in an IT Operations environment.
  • Implementing Infrastructure As Code (IAC), defining cloud infrastructure in reusable, composable building blocks using tools like Terraform, Bicep or ARM.
  • Measuring and improving the performance, uptime, cost, stability, and other operational characteristics of our cloud-based systems using tools like Azure native tools and Dynatrace.
  • Writing runbooks and rehearsing scenarios to ensure efficient incident response to support our service level agreement and uptime commitments to our customers.
  • Researching, analyzing, recommending, and implementing solutions within their scope and enhancements.
  • Sharing rotation of on-call duties after hours and weekends to respond to emergency outages in Azure.
  • Demonstrating compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function.
  • Coaching, mentoring, or training others as a subject matter expert.

About You:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent required.

4-7 years' experience in system or network engineering in a mid-size company with a proven track record of success.

Strong coordination, organization, troubleshooting and communication abilities required.

Proven experience with building and maintaining cloud systems and infrastructure.

Familiarity with Git and understanding the role that version control and effective, positive code review has in creating great software.

Strong understanding of the software development life cycle, and actively seeking and sharing ideas on how to improve it.

Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.

Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Salt Stack, Bicep or other Infrastructure as Code tools to provision and manage complex systems in a public cloud.

Experience building, deploying, and hosting applications in a major cloud provider like Azure and understanding the underlying technologies.

Excellent verbal and written communications.

Knowledge of trends in technology in multiple areas.

Proven ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Very strong customer service orientation.

MCP/MCSA/MCSE certification preferred.

Workstyle: Fully onsite.

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $74,418.0 to $116,943.20, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation.
