Product Owner Role

The Product Owner is responsible for defining and supporting the building of valuable, feasible, viable, and usable products that meet customer needs over the lifecycle of the product. This includes defining the product roadmap for assigned products, working directly with customers and Product Managers to understand and communicate their needs, and collaborating with Business Relationship Managers, other IT stakeholders, and SMEs from different areas to define how technology can enable business processes, drive business value, and improve KPIs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set plans and goals for products and teams, communicating and building consensus to meet established outcomes with Product Managers and Business Relationship Managers.
  • Plan how products will be implemented to maximize value.
  • Accountable for prototypes, flow diagrams, use case documents, story maps, and mockups to help visualize and describe product features.
  • Identify potential technology options and complete IT cost assessments with support from IT architecture resources as needed.
  • Define features and prioritize them with Product Managers to identify the right initiatives to focus on and add to the product roadmap to ensure a constant flow of value creation.
  • Accountable for delivering features as prioritized by Product Managers, with constant advisement on value versus effort and fit to the roadmap.
  • Play a lead role in process governance to harmonize processes and underlying system solutions whenever possible.
  • Innovate through research and prototyping, and drive the development and adoption of next-generation technologies and business practices.
  • Work with technical architects and engineers to define technical solutions and enablers in line with functional and non-functional requirements and process flows defined.
  • Integrate upcoming enabler work such as architecture, data privacy, security, regulatory, and compliance into the backlog with Product Managers.
  • Work with teams to agree on accepted story completion.
  • Leverage survey results, interviews with users, and data/analytics and insights to continuously improve and scale products and employ product strategies.
  • Be a constant change champion for new ways of working.
  • Participate in team demos and retrospectives.
  • Report progress and status in terms of business and customer outcomes.
  • Support internal change management teams and external marketing teams to drive adoption and deliver products to market.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with greater than 5 years of experience in digital/technical product ownership.
  • Prior experience with commercial products such as customer relationship management, marketing, quoting/contracting, and pricing.
  • Established commercial business acumen.
  • Prior experience or ability to learn technical development architecture and configuration principles.
  • Strong understanding and working experience with Agile approach and culture.
  • Understanding of the SAFe (Agile at scale) approach is a plus.
  • Skills in prototyping and rapid ideation/discovery.
  • Ability to work with multiple geographies in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability and maturity to manage senior-level stakeholders globally.
  • Experience in working in regulated environments (i.e. privacy/compliance).
  • Design thinking awareness and prior usage strongly preferred.
